About Me
Full-stack developer, tech enthusiast, and underwater explorer
Hi! I'm Yevgen Sukharenko, a full-stack developer passionate about building modern web applications that combine cutting-edge technology with exceptional user experiences. When I'm not coding, you'll likely find me underwater, exploring the depths as a PADI Divemaster.
What I Do
I build full-stack web applications and native mobile apps, and I take them all the way: architecture, database, API, interface, iOS, Android, deployment and the monitoring that catches problems before users report them. My own products - Red Sea Creatures and its FishID image-recognition service - are the clearest example, because nobody but me built any part of them.
Alongside that I do the work that fixes things rather than creates them: technical SEO and Core Web Vitals on large existing platforms, which is what I did for The Athletic at The New York Times. If you want the version written for a client rather than for a reader, my services page says what I take on and how it is billed.

Beyond Code
As a PADI Divemaster, I have a deep passion for the underwater world. Diving has taught me valuable lessons about preparation, attention to detail, and staying calm under pressure - skills that translate remarkably well to software development.
It also produced the most demanding engineering problem I have given myself: FishID, photo identification that matches a diver's photograph against 1,337 Red Sea species from 10,646 photographs - most of them mine. Diving is where the problem comes from; the software is what I do about it. My Diving page has the rest.
Development Philosophy
- ▸Quality over quantity: Write clean, maintainable code that stands the test of time
- ▸User-first approach: Build applications that solve real problems and delight users
- ▸Continuous learning: Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices
- ▸Type safety: Leverage TypeScript to catch errors early and improve developer experience
- ▸Performance matters: Optimize for speed, accessibility, and SEO from the ground up
